Tips

  • Rinse food processor parts in cold water after shredding cheese so that the cheese doesn't get all gooey. Once you get the solids off the processor parts you can wash them in hot soapy water to remove the fats from the cheese
  • When working with foods high in starch (potatoes, flours etc), rinse or wipe up with cold water first since the starch releases better.

  • You can use a little bit of dishwasher detergent dissolved in HOT water to help scrub sticky and gooey grease off of cookware, using a nylon Scotchbrite rub pad. It probably won't remove all of the grease, but it will cut down on the gummy residue. DO NOT mix dishwasher detergent together with dishwashing liquid.
  • Use the plastic netting from produce or some meat products to make a good dish scraper. You just fold it up into a workable size and secure one end with a rubber band. These handy scrapers are much easier to get the food out of than the rolled ones you purchase in the store, plus it's recycled material.
